As faithful Christians and as part of the United Methodist Church, we share the core faith of belief in the Trinity: Creator God, Redeemer Jesus Christ and the ongoing power of the Holy Spirit. Details are found here.

What We Believe

Our Basic Beliefs

Based on the statements held by the United Methodist Church, and in light of our congregation, these are the restated principles, symbols, and articles of faith to which our congregational members are expected to turn for strength in times of joy and sorrow, victory or confusion, celebration and/or stress.

We trust in a loving God:

Who created everything, Father of Abraham & Sarah, Moses & Miriam, David & Bathsheba...

Lived with us as Jesus, the Christ.
Who died and was resurrected, loving us beyond measure, and giving us the choice to live with him always.

In gratitude, we completely trust Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord,

For we know that we cannot love as we want.  We need his help.

Our Sin, (turning from God) leads us to distraction and outright rebellion.

It is only by our faith/trust in Jesus Christ, who loves us so unconditionally, that we are restored to a life of love that has no boundaries.

We pledge to live our lives by his teachings and example, serving Him as his living body, the Church, enthusiastically inviting everyone to join and follow him.

We rely on his Holy Spirit, a mystery in our midst, choosing God's power to resist evil, injustice and oppression, to renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, and to reject the evil powers around us as we repent of our own sin/distraction/self-centeredness.

We worship together as often as we can, sharing in open Holy Communion regularly.

We Baptize and teach all ages and peoples and we challenge each other to regularly confirm our choice of Christ and his leadership.

We share all that we have been given so that others may know the love and forgiveness, the healing and wholeness that is Jesus Christ.

We trust the Holy Bible as the primary, Godly source of our inspiration, understanding and guidance.

And we also look to Tradition, Reason and Experience to deepen our life with God in Jesus Christ.

With God's grace, we promise to remain faithful members of Christ's holy Church and serve as Christ's representatives in the world.

We will be loyal to the United Methodist Church and do all in our power to strengthen it's ministries.

We will faithfully participate in the ministries of OUMC with our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.
